Giants could add eventually 2 new quarterbacks, source.

Life after Jaxson Dart's injury, Jameis Winston must step up.

Less than a week after losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to a knee injury incurred in the week 2 loss at the Rams, the New York Giants are earnestly working to add competitive depth at the position based on current viable options on the market. Now, it’s my understanding that the team could address their quarterback situation by eventually adding two new quarterbacks instead of just one, per league source.

Per conversations around the league, the Giants actually had desires to make moves sooner, but as with any NFL transaction, deals are not one-sided. It is understandable if a player or team wants more time to analyze their situations, especially so close to next-game action and a potential new set of circumstances to consider afterwards.

It is true that at least one new acquisition could potentially happen as soon as Monday, as Tom Pelissero reported, or, perhaps a little sooner than that. However, the timing on the aforementioned still remains fluid.

John Harbaugh is in his 19th season as a head coach in the NFL and it’s fair to say he’s seen it all and has had to adapt to many circumstances en route to 13 winning seasons and 12 playoff appearances.

The team remains confident in their offensive assets, the growth of their star young players in Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo and the game plans that are being put together by the staff.

Jameis Winston will have another opportunity to lead the Giants as a starting quarterback and put in a stronger performance following the recent 2-year, $13 million contract extension he signed a week before the start of the 2026 season.

However, Winston’s most recent outing was disappointing to fans.

Winston went 11-27, 111 yards; 0TDs, 1INT for a QBR of 17.4 and Rtg. of 37.7 in unexpected relief of Dart only seven snaps into the match. Winston will be the first to tell you he prepares like a starter, knows his number can be called at any moment, and that has to show on the field.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan noted, “Jameis Winston had an off-target percentage of 33% against the Rams. Only Green Bay's Jordan Love in Week 1 (35%) had a higher off-target percentage in a game this year.,” on his twitter after the game.

I have seen Winston perform much better and look way more focused in the two games he stepped in for Dart last season vs the Packers and Lions with Mike Kafka at the helm and as I’ve mentioned plenty of times under Sean Payton in New Orleans.

Winston has had a lot of off-the-field success since then, especially earlier this year.

It’s fair to say that this is high-time for Winston to perform like he’s locked back in and to improve with the increased reps he’s getting with the ones now as soon as possible.

This Harbaugh regime will do what’s best for the product on the field and for the results.
