Source: Three teams already reached out to discuss released Giants WR Darius Slayton.

The Giants released WR Darius Slayton in a expected move on Monday, but it's already clear he'll have options in the near future. Three teams reached out quickly for preliminary conversations subsequent to the announcement from his former team, a league source told the Exhibit News Network.

Separate from those three conversations, if a position needs arises down the line in Indianapolis, it may be smart to monitor the Colts as an additional consideration given Slayton's relationship with quarterback Daniel Jones and their time together on the west side of the Hudson River. Jones and Slayton were Giants teammates betweem 2019-2023.

As of now, the Colts like what they see in Deion Burks, per league source.

I'm told Slayton, who spent the last seven seasons in New York after being selected in the 5th-round in the 2019 Draft, will take his time to weigh his options while letting the start of the season unfold. The goal is not just to contribute this season, but to really find a home where he can play for the foreseeable future.

Slayton has been encumbered in his progression after offseason surgery on his groin April 28th of this year, per league source. Some of his limitations in camp were thus evident at times, and a decision was made to move forward with the apparent direction of the rest of receiver room. The Giants also like what they've been seeing from players on their practice squad whom they feel can really help them.

The decision to release Slayton is somewhat stunning in the context of the recent commitment the franchise made after awarding him a 3-year/$36 million dollar contract in March of 2025. However, things have notably changed a lot since then with the organization under new leadership and vision with head coach John Harbaugh, the return of Odell Beckham Jr. and the improved health status of wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Slayton ends his time with the Giants after recording 4,435 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns.
